Broward County Emergency Order Increases Violations and Enforces Curfew

Coral Springs, Florida – On Friday, July 17, 2020, Broward County issued Emergency Order 20-22, which enforces a curfew, expands facial covering requirements, limits private gatherings, closes vacation rentals, restricts restaurant operations, and urges strict signage requirements for businesses.
Broward County is under a curfew from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., effective tonight until August 1, 2020. Coral Springs residents are permitted to travel directly to and from their home to their place of employment, return to home after commercial travel, and walk pets within 250 feet of their residences; otherwise residents must remain home until the curfew is no longer in force.
Individuals exempted from the curfew orders are the following: active duty police, fire rescue, first responders, news media, delivery or transportation drivers, government employees, persons seeking emergency medical care and medical, health care and utility service personnel.
Effective immediately

  • Facial coverings must be worn at all times while using or visiting a gym or fitness center, including while exercising, with the exception of individuals showering or swimming.
  • Private gatherings at residential property, single-family or otherwise, indoors and/or outdoors, are limited to 10 persons or less. If in violation, property owners, as well as the individuals present at such gathering will be individually liable and subject to civil and criminal penalties.
  • Restaurant patrons must order and consume meals and beverages at a table. Ordering from a bar counter is strictly prohibited.

Effective July 20, 2020

  • All short-term vacation rentals that are not actively managed by on-site owners or management companies with 24/7 security are required to close operations effective for check-ins commencing on or after July 20, 2020 through August 20, 2020.
  • Commercial property business owners, operators and landlords, including retail, restaurant or food establishments, must ensure compliance with the signage requirements outlined in the Emergency Order 20-17. In addition, signage must be easily visible to the public and located in commons areas of the property.

If a resident tests positive for COVID-19, or is experiencing any associated symptoms, then the resident should self-isolate and avoid visiting any establishments with the exception of medical care.
We ask residents to familiarize themselves with all details included in the Emergency Order and we request they adhere to all guidelines.
Facial coverings and social distancing are requirements when in public and until we have managed to eradicate COVID-19 within our community. Practice good personal hygiene and continue to follow CDC recommendations to ensure we mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
