Miami-Dade Police Officer Shot…Car Linked to Miami Springs Motel

Our prayers go out to the Miami-Dade Police Officer who was shot last night.  That Officer is reportedly in Critical Condition.  He was allegedly shot by an armed suspect.  That suspect was killed.

The shooting occurred in Liberty City in the area of NW 7th Avenue and 62nd Street after a brief car chase.

According to The Miami Herald, members of the Miami-Dade Police Robbery Intervention Detail were conducting an investigation stemming from an earlier armed robbery of a convenience store in Dania Beach.  According to The Herald, the suspect’s white car had been linked to that earlier armed robbery and was tracked to a Miami Springs Motel.

The Herald further reported that the Robbery Intervention Detail attempted to pull the car over at NW 62nd Street and 17th Avenue.  That’s where the car “began to strike detective’s vehicles in an attempt to flee.”  The chase ended 10 blocks east on 7th Avenue and NW 62nd Street.  That’s where the shootout ensued leaving the suspect dead and the Miami-Dade Police Officer critically shot.

That Officer is in Critical Condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital where other law enforcement officials from various departments have come out to show their support.
