GLADES COUNTY, Fla. — An accident that occurred close to the intersection of State Road 80 and Hendry Isles Boulevard left one person dead and two others injured.
The collision took place at around 3:12 in the afternoon.
The Florida Highway Patrol reports that a 53-year-old man from Naples died in a vehicle operated by a 62-year-old woman from Clewiston.
They were heading north on Hendry Isles Boulevard when they came to an intersection with a stop sign. The second vehicle that was involved in the collision, a van driven by a man from Clewiston who was 68 years old, was headed eastbound on State Road 80.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the collision between the van and the sedan occurred because the sedan did not stop at the stop sign.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the man from Naples was declared dead at the site of the accident, while the woman from Clewiston sustained serious injuries. The man from Clewiston was treated for minor injuries.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
