Elderly South Florida man claims a significant prize after playing Lottery at Publix

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. – A 70-year-old man was able to collect his $3.5 million prize this week after purchasing a winning lottery ticket at Publix back in May.

The Florida Lottery has announced that the winning Florida Lotto ticket was purchased for the drawing that took place on May 11.

David James, who lives in Riviera Beach, made the decision to receive his winnings in a single, $2,263,300.18 payment.

James bought the winning lottery ticket at the Riviera Beach Publix, which is located at 228 Blue Heron Boulevard East.

As a commission bonus, the shop will get $30,000 for selling the winning ticket.

The next drawing for the Florida Lotto will take place on Wednesday night at 11:15 p.m., and the prize is expected to be somewhere around $7.75 million.

“Winning numbers are available on the Florida Lottery’s website ( www.flalottery.com), on the Lottery’s free mobile app for iOS and Android users, at any authorized Florida Lottery retailer, and by calling (850) 921-PLAY (7529). You can also view the drawings online on the Florida Lottery’s official YouTube channel,” the Florida Lottery stated in a news release.
