Elderly woman died in single-vehicle crash in Glades County

GLADES COUNTY, Fla. — In Glades County, an incident involving a single vehicle claimed the life of a woman who was 82 years old.

The report from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) indicates that the collision took place at 3:38 in the afternoon along the stretch of US 27 and East Yuan Road.

The lady from Port Charlotte was driving north on U.S. 27, and she was about to approach a bend to the left. According to the complaint, she was unable to navigate a bend and ended up driving across the southbound lanes of U.S. Route 27 after crossing over a grass median.

The truck veered off the highway, drove into the grassy ditch, and then launched itself into the air while flying above the canal. Then, her automobile rolled over in the middle of a field.

On the spot, medical personnel determined that the lady, whose name is being withheld at this time, had already passed away.

According to the FHP, the investigation into the accident is ongoing.
