Broward County Plans Curfew For Christmas, New Year’s Eve, And Other Days

CORAL SPRINGS, FL – As the number of new Covid-19 cases continues rising, Broward County Mayor Steven Geller announced Tuesday that nightly curfews are coming for the holidays.
Curfews will be from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. on Christmas and New Year’s Eve and midnight to 5 a.m. on all other days through Jan. 4 for all municipalities including Coral Springs.
The reason: many people are planning holiday get-togethers despite the surge in new cases, Geller said.
Broward County reported 806 new cases on Tuesday for a total of 128,963 cases since the start of the pandemic, according to the Florida Department of Health.
There were also eight new deaths reported in Broward County since Monday, bringing the total number of deaths in the county to 1,792.
Similar curfews have been in place in other South Florida cities in recent weeks.
