Atlas 5 rocket launches from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Atlas 5 launched early Thursday morning from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
The mission is to put into orbit a military surveillance satellite.
It usually takes about 80 seconds from the time the rocket leaves the launch pad to where Southwest Florida residents are able to see it in the sky.
The 194-foot tall rocket launched on a $1.2 billion mission with a U.S. Space Force missile warning satellite.
This is the fifth Atlas 5 flight of the year and, overall, the 95th launch of an Atlas 5 rocket.
