Tracking The Tropics: Potential area of development in Eastern Atlantic increasing in development probability
The tropical wave expected to emerge off the west coast of Africa has increased to a 30% chance of development over the next five days. This is a common area for tropical development during August and though nothing has formed, it is worth watching over the next week.
This is the only area of interest at this time. The next name on the list is Danielle.
We are at that point in the season where the tropics start to heat up and we see more chances for development. Although the tropics may have seemed quiet so far this year, it only feels that way because the last two years were more active by this point in the season.
However, hurricane scientists still believe the system will be above average. Over the next month and a half we will rise into the peak season, which is on September 10th, then start the downhill side of the activity cure.
