Lee County Sheriff’s Office K9 Mercy locates 9-year-old who went missing

LEE COUNTY, Fla.  — A boy who was reported missing has been found due to the assistance of a Lee County Sheriff’s Office Bloodhound. The boy was 9 years old.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said that officers were summoned to a residence on Chancellor St. following the disappearance of a nine-year-old boy who had a history of medical problems.

In an effort to locate the missing child, a number of deputies and a search dog named Bloodhound Mercy were sent. The agriculture and aviation units of the LCSO were among those who participated in the search.

The K9 Mercy was able to trace the boy’s scent through the neighborhood, which led to his safe return to his family.

“This was great work by all of the agency members involved. It’s a part of my mission with the ReUnite program; we will stop at nothing to make sure every missing person is found and brought home safely,” Sheriff Marceno said.
