Suspect accused of a South Florida murder sentenced to over 15 years in prison after changing his plea
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A man accused of murder in South Florida chose to change his plea from not guilty to no contest, resulting in a jail term.
In April of 2016, Kyle Hannover was arrested on a second-degree murder charge.
According to authorities, Hannover and an 82-year-old man engaged in an argument at Everglades Holiday Park. Deputies say that Hannover drove his pickup truck over Luis Angel Dominguez, resulting in his death.
The 26-year-old Hannover reportedly hurled racial slurs at Dominguez, who died after being flown to the hospital.
Michael Gottlieb, who defends Hannover, said that his client will spend 12.2 years in jail, followed by 12.2 years of probation.
The state attorney’s office confirmed Gottlieb’s statement, adding that Hannover faces a separate charge carrying a minimum mandatory prison term of four years.
Additional conditions, such as Hannover completing a 26-week anger management course, paying restitution for funeral expenses, and having his driver’s license permanently revoked, were also part of the terms and conditions.
