Internal Affairs report explains why Boynton Beach police officer was fired

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla.  — Internal Affairs did an investigation and gave a report Wednesday on why Boynton Beach Police Officer Mark Sohn was fired.

Sohn was fired following an incident involving a dirt bike accident that resulted in the death of 13-year-old Stanley Davis III.

On the day after Christmas, Sohn tried to pull Davis over for speeding, which ultimately led to his death.

The report reveals that Officer Sohn said he was not pursuing Davis, but continued his pursuit at speeds nearing 80 miles per hour.

According to the investigation, Sohn “attempted to conceal the existence of a vehicle pursuit.”

In May, the Florida Highway Patrol determined that the officer’s actions during the attempted traffic stop were appropriate.
