Amputation performed on a motorcyclist following a crash with a vehicle in Lauderdale Lakes

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. – On Thursday, a man suffered serious injuries after a collision that included a vehicle and a motorbike.

It took place in Lauderdale Lakes at the intersection of State Road 7 and 44th Street.

The 45-year-old motorcyclist was taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries that were considered to be life-threatening, according to the police.

According to BSO Fire Rescue, the man required an amputation as a result of the injuries he sustained.

The driver of the vehicle was also transported to the hospital for treatment, but police have not released information about their condition.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
