Investigation ongoing into ‘suspicious incident’ involving boy heading to school in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Police from Fort Lauderdale were called to Northside Elementary School on Friday morning because of a “suspicious incident,” according to the authorities.

At approximately 7:40 a.m., officers arrived at the school located at 120 NE 11th St.

“It appears someone may have asked a child if they needed a ride, but it appears there was no attempt to force or coerce the child into the vehicle,” the spokeswoman for Fort Lauderdale police, Case Liening said.

The child did not enter the vehicle and is now safe, according to Liening.

She said that police were searching the area for any more information or evidence.

The incident remains under investigation.
