Cape Coral police issued a Purple Alert for a missing man with cognitive disabilities
CAPE CORAL, Fla. — A Purple Alert has been issued by the Cape Coral Police Department for the whereabouts of Antonio Michael Velardi, who was last seen near the 1900th block of NE Pine Island Rd.
CCPD reports that Velardi was dressed in black shorts, dark sneakers, and a black sleeveless T-shirt with a white eyeball on the front the last time he was seen.
A “Purple Alert” is issued when a missing adult who is known to suffer from a mental or cognitive/developmental disability is reported. The Purple Alert does not cover Alzheimer’s disease or any other dementia-related disorders, nor does it cover other types of brain injuries.
Velardi weighs 165 pounds, is 5’ 10’’ inches tall, and is 28 years old.
