Home destroyed after lightning strikes an electrical box
NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. — A lightning strike to an electrical box in North Fort Myers started a fire, which quickly spread to the family’s attic, so they were forced to leave their house and seek shelter elsewhere.
As reported by the North Fort Myers Fire Control District, Poinsettia Drive was the location where the fire started.
When the fire broke out, there were a total of four people inside. The extensive damage caused by the smoke and water inside the residence has made it uninhabitable, according to the fire personnel.
The American Red Cross is making efforts to assist the family in finding a home for them to stay in the meantime. Officials from the fire department say that the family moved to the house from Miami about six months ago.
There is currently no more information that can be provided at this time in connection with the incident.
