Serial thief sought on 72 criminal charges taken into custody

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla.  — An investigation has led to the incarceration of a 26-year-old man who is suspected of stealing wallets from unwary female shoppers in grocery stores.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office arrested Devante Durham on Thursday after a protracted investigation into thefts in Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast.

Durham identified himself in every broadcast and admitted to the crimes.

Numerous accusations have been filed against him, including four counts of petit theft, 22 instances of credit card theft, 15 counts of credit card fraud, and 31 counts of fraudulent use of personal identity.

He is now being held at the Palm Beach County Main Detention Center.
