West Melbourne officer arrested by Orlando police on DUI charges

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – According to the West Melbourne Police Department, a police officer was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence on Friday.

According to a Facebook post from the Orlando Police Department, Officer Joshua Perez-Lopez was detained by the Orlando Police Department on charges of DUI with property damage.

Perez-Lopez will be put on administrative leave while authorities investigate the incident, according to police.

“In the interest of transparency, we chose to proactively share this information with the community we serve,” WMPD stated in the post.

We contacted Orlando police, who verified the arrest information of Perez-Lopez.

An investigation is underway.
