Shooting incident in Pittsburgh left one person injured, 3 dead
PITTSBURGH — According to the police, a shooting in Pittsburgh resulted in the deaths of two women and a man, as well as the injury of a fourth person.
At around 10 p.m. on Saturday, officers from the Pittsburgh Public Safety Department reported hearing gunshots in the area of a major junction on the North Side.
Cara Cruz, a representative for public safety, said that one individual passed away at the location. At the Allegheny General Hospital, it was determined that a second lady and a male had passed away. Cruz said that a second individual who went to the hospital was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to his leg and was listed as being in stable condition.
Jacquelyn Mehalic, 33, of Muncy, and Betty Averytt, 59, of Averytt, have been named as the two victims by the office of the medical examiner for Allegheny County, which released its findings on Sunday.
There was no immediate word of any arrests being made. There was no instant information available on the number of people who opened fire or the total number of rounds that were fired.
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the shooting took place on the southern end of the Allegheny Commons, which consists of a park, a grocery store, a petrol station, and the Allegheny Elks Lodge.
