Fort Myers Beach residents allowed to return to the island
FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. — Those who live on Fort Myers Beach, own businesses there, and have hired contractors to do work there are allowed to return on Wednesday.
Access has been denied to everyone except those working in emergency services for the previous two days.
Here is the plan that the government has come up with to help people get back on their feet faster after Hurricane Ian.
There is still a lot of damage out here on Fort Myers Beach, which is the reason why locals will only be able to visit the beach on certain days of the week.
On Mondays and Tuesdays, the doors are locked to everyone save those who are classified as emergency workers.
People are allowed to cross one of the bridges that make Fort Myers Beach their home on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout those days.

The new plan was made to help with the early stages of the cleaning process and make it easier to get things set up for recovery activities.
