Miami-Dade County Animal Services waives adoption fees during December as part of Home for the Holidays campaign
Animal shelters are organizations that provide temporary care and housing for animals that have been abandoned, lost, or surrendered by their owners. Many animal shelters are run by local governments or non-profit groups and rely on donations and volunteers to help take care of the animals.
The ultimate goal of an animal shelter is to find permanent, loving homes for the animals in its care. In order to ease the process of finding permanent homes for animals and increase adoptions, animal shelters are sometimes offering lower adoption fees or even waiving the fees completely.
Such is the case with the Miami-Dade County Animal Services, which announced recently that they are waiving the adoption fees until the end of December in an attempt to find permanent, loving homes for the animals.
The Animal Services decided to run a “Home for the Holidays” program through which adopters would not have to pay the $85 fee for puppies or the $35 fee for kittens older than four months. However, those that decide to adopt a dog would still have to pay the $30 licensing fee.
If you are interested in adopting a pet, you are encouraged to visit the Animal Services’ Pet Adoption and Protection Center, where you can meet and interact with the over 500 pets that are ready for adoption and find one that is a good match for your lifestyle and family.
