Lane closures expected in new road construction project
Coral Springs, Florida – On Monday, a new road construction project will start in one of the most-traveled areas of downtown Coral Springs. It is expected to bring with it lane closures through the fall of 2022.
The $3.5 million project will widen and resurface University Drive from Sample Road to NW 28 Street.
On Tuesday, during an open house meeting on the project, state officials explained that the project will include widening southbound University Drive.
The construction area will be in a busy driving corridor that includes the building of the new Cornerstone development as well as entrances into The Walk of Coral Springs, Northwest Regional Library, and the Coral Springs Charter School. It will be the newest road construction project in Coral Springs.
State and Broward County crews are now making improvements to Wiles Road, Coral Ridge Drive, and Riverside Drive.
The new construction on University Drive from Sample Road to NW 28 Street is expected to require daytime and nighttime lane closures, but it won’t impact access to businesses in the area, officials said during the meeting.
According to officials, the contractor, General Asphalt Co., is aiming to finish the project by the fall.
