Autistic man with a mental illness reported missing from an Oakland Park group home
OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – A missing person report was filed for a man with autism who is 30 years old and was last seen leaving a group home in Oakland Park. The Broward Sheriff’s Office’s Missing Persons Unit is now looking for the man.
According to the information provided by authorities, Demetrius Wiggins was last seen on Sunday morning at approximately seven o’clock in the area of Oakland Park’s Northeast 36th Street, 800 block.
He stands at around 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs close to 300 pounds.
Wiggins has black hair and brown eyes, and he was last seen wearing a multicolored plaid shirt, black sweatpants, and red and white sneakers.
Authorities said that Wiggins suffers from mental diseases as well as autism and must take medicine for both conditions.
