Cape schools taking precautions as boil advisory continues
CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Following Monday’s health notice that placed all of Cape Coral on a boil water advisory, the School District of Lee County wants parents to know that precautions are being taken to protect students.
Just before 9 o’clock in the evening, emails were sent out to all of the parents and guardians. On Monday, an update was provided that highlighted the actions that are being taken while the alert is in force.
The employees of the district will provide bottled water to each and every school in the city. People will be reminded not to drink the water from the drinking fountains by notices that will be displayed there as well.
Meals will be served in the cafeteria according to the set schedule, but the staff will still follow the right procedures to make sure the food is safe to eat.
The school system has told parents that, if they ask, they can send their kids to school with extra bottles of water and hand sanitizer.
The city has said that they aim to get the water problems resolved within the next three days. As new information becomes available, school administrators will provide families with updated information on the situation.
