Charges pressed against a Florida man in connection with deadly Westside shooting
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man in his thirties has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with a shooting that took place on the Westside in the month of July.
Keith Hubbard has been charged by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office with two counts of second-degree murder, shooting deadly missiles into a dwelling or vehicle, resisting an officer, and three counts of battery on a law enforcement officer or EMT.
According to the JSO, on July 7, police officers responded to a call in the 6200 block of Pernecia Street about reports of gunfire. Both a man in his 30s who had been shot at least once and a house that had been hit by bullets were found by the police when they arrived. The man in his 30s had suffered from at least one gunshot wound.
The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department said that the person was dead when they got there.
The Homicide Unit, Team 5, and the Crime Site Unit of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office all arrived on the scene to begin their own investigations.
The JSO says that a JSO K9 Unit and Zone 4 Patrol Officers were able to find Hubbard right away and put him in custody in the area.
On the night of the event, he was accused of firing into an inhabited residence, which led to his being charged with attempted murder.
Homicide detectives continued their investigation, and on October 27, they charged Hubbard with the victim’s murder. Hubbard was responsible for the victim’s death.
