City Launches ‘Her Story’ Campaign in Honor of Women’s History
Coral Springs, FL – March is Women’s History Month, and in the City of Coral Springs we are excited to celebrate women for their outstanding contributions through the newly launched ‘Her Story’ campaign. Throughout the month, we will highlight five women on our website and social media platforms, who have made significant contributions to the Coral Springs community. All of the women we feature were individually selected by our City Commission. They include:
Claudette Bruck
Nominated by Mayor Scott Brook, Claudette Bruck is being recognized for her advocacy with seniors, her continued support of the business community through the Chamber of Commerce; and dedicated service to improving the lives of the underserved in our community.
Regarding the nominee, Mayor Brook said, “Claudette Bruck is a community servant with a huge heart. She has been unafraid to take risks and even after she termed out as a City Commissioner, continued serving others. Her contributions to this city are immeasurable and we are fortunate to have women like her making such an impact in our city.”
Vivian Suarez
Nominated by Vice Mayor Joshua Simmons, Vivian Suarez is being honored for her contributions to our city’s youth education.
Of the nominee, Vice Mayor Simmons said, “Vivian Suarez leads with compassion, integrity, and determination to ensure students believe in their own success and have the tools needed to achieve that success. She confronts challenges with poise in search of the best solutions. Suarez is the definition of a strong woman and any young person’s life would be much more improved with her guiding them.”
Mary Boast
Nominated by Commissioner Shawn Cerra, Mary Boast is being recognized for her dedication and commitment to ensuring the safety of our city’s children for the last 33 years through the Safety Town program.
Of the nominee, Commissioner Cerra said, “Mary Boast has implemented one of the most important and valuable programs our city has to offer our youngest residents. Her work in implementing and running Safety Town for more than three decades is one of the reasons that Coral Springs is the best city to live, work and raise a family.”
Lindsay Poveromo-Joly
Nominated by Commissioner Nancy Metayer, the City of Coral Springs recognizes Lindsay Poveromo for her passionate influence in engaging the community through local government.
Of Lindsay’s ‘Her Story’ nomination, Commissioner Metayer said, “She is an overall superwoman. Lindsay embodies strength, integrity, drive and compassion. Her dedication to advocacy touches many lives globally, and I am proud to call her a resident of Coral Springs.”
Joan Kohl
Commissioner Joy Carter nominated Joan Kohl to be honored for her achievements and influence in the community.
Regarding the Joan’s nomination, Commissioner Carter said, “Conviction, mixed with passion gives way to a relentless pursuit of the dream and vision that boils inside of oneself. This accurately describes Joan, and the example she sets as a female leader pursuing her dream, which is ultimately for the good of all nature, animals and people.”
We encourage our residents and local business owners to highlight other inspirational women in our community who are making an impact in our city or in influencing others by using #HerStoryCS on social media with all the ways the nominee has contributed positively to Coral Springs. Photos and feature stories will be shared on our social media platforms and city website throughout the month of March.
We honor, appreciate and acknowledge all women in the City of Coral Springs and in our nation for their historical contributions that have led to progress forged by many generations of persistent, strong and passionate women.
