Flagler County Sheriff’s Office is cracking down on drug dealers
FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — Sheriff Rick Staly of Flagler County said that 16 deaths in the county this year have been linked to an overdose.
Staly is passionately committed to keeping “poison peddlers” out of his county. He says that they have found three times as much fentanyl as in the whole year of 2021.
Staly is aware of the negative effects that dangerous drugs, particularly fentanyl, have on his community. Trying to catch the dealer is one of the objectives of the battle.
“They’re selling poison because the buyer really does not know what they’re buying,” said Staly.
Jevante Hamilton, 27, was found guilty of manslaughter by a jury on the 25th of August. During the year 2019, Hamilton was involved in the sale of drugs that contained fentanyl.
The buyer passed away as a result of an overdose. The judge has set Hamilton’s sentence at a minimum of 15 years in prison.
“I’m hoping he gets more, more time than a 15-year minimum day for day,” Staly added.
Even though the battle is still going on, Staly has managed to secure a few victories so far. The sheriff said that his deputies as well as the fire department are supplied with Narcan. Staly said that they had administered 180 dosages in order to save lives so far.
