Former President Trump announced 2024 presidential candidacy
Donald Trump announced he would run for president in the 2024 election.
The former president announced his candidacy on Tuesday during a speech at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, and while he was announcing his plans, supporters were already gathering outside the residence.
During his speech, Trump also said that the first thing that he would do in the event of becoming president once again would be to attack inflation immediately.
Trump announced his candidacy at a time when he is the subject of a number of ongoing criminal investigations. One of these investigations is being conducted by the Department of Justice and focuses on the hundreds of documents bearing classified markings that were found in boxes and drawers at Mar-a-Lago.
If Biden and Trump face off in the 2024 presidential election, and if Trump wins, he would become just the second president since Grover Cleveland in 1892 to retake the post in two non-consecutive terms by defeating the opponent to whom he had previously lost.
