Fort Lauderdale classroom transformed into ‘Coffee House’ with the help of Tools for Schools
MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A program called Tools For Schools, which is a collaboration between Publix Supermarkets and Local 10 News, is assisting in supplying students at three different schools with the materials they need to be successful in the next school year.
A team recently brought packages of school materials to transform a classroom into a “Coffee House” at North Fork Elementary School, 101 NW 15th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale.
Robyn Hankerson-Printemps, manager of community relations at Publix, said, “We want to start them off right, but we also want to set them up for future success.”
Terencia Parrish-Williams, who teaches reading and writing to fifth-graders, was thrilled to receive the supplies and expressed her gratitude.
“My classroom is usually very fun … and just a lively setting. Reading is always brewing … They have to do it; they have to grind every day,” Parrish-Williams said.
On August 10, children returned to classrooms at Monroe County Public Schools. Children from Broward County Public Schools returned on Tuesday, while Miami-Dade County Public Schools children returned on Wednesday.
