Gov. DeSantis held a reelection campaign rally at the American Top Team club in Coconut Creek
COCONUT CREEK, Fla. – On Friday, a reelection campaign rally for Governor Ron DeSantis was held at the American Top Team club in Coconut Creek. The MМА fighter Jorge Masvidal served as the event’s host and introduced DeSantis.
Charlie Crist, a former Republican governor who switched parties and is now a Democrat and has the backing of President Joe Biden, is DeSantis’ opponent in the race for the seat of U.S. Representative in Florida.
“People know that I have been willing to take the punches for them, being willing to stand up for the people you represent and take the hits on their behalf,” DeSantis said.
In addition, DeSantis published a television advertisement titled “So God Made a Fighter” on Friday. The advertisement appears to be modeled on Paul Harvey’s 1978 book “So God Made a Farmer,” which was carried on ABC News Radio in 1978.
A narrator says, “And on the eighth day, God looked down on his planned paradise and said, ‘I need a protector.’ So God made a fighter.”
Biden and Crist went to an event in Golden Beach on Tuesday afternoon after attending a rally in Miami Gardens earlier in the day. The event was held at a private property. In a statement, President Joe Biden referred to the governor’s race in Florida as “one of the most significant” in the nation because Charlie Crist is “fighting against Donald Trump incarnate.” Biden made this claim in his statement.
“These guys are extreme in the extreme,” Biden said.
Biden leveled the accusation that DeSantis was “demonizing” the LGBTQ+ community and attacking the “core, fundamental personal rights” of women. He also said, “This is not your father’s Republican Party,” and he added that there is an influence by “white supremacists,” who promote antisemitism. He also indicated that there is an influence from “white supremacists.”
On Sunday, DeSantis intends to host a rally with the theme “Don’t Tread on Florida” at the Florida Gulf Coast University campus located in Fort Myers. The event that will be held on Sunday in Miami-Dade County with Senator Marco Rubio and former President Donald Trump will not include him.
On Saturday, the “Choose Freedom Bus Tour” hosted by Crist will make a stop in Port St. Lucie at the Tradition Town Hall. Joining Crist will be Karla Hernandez-Mats, a teacher and union leader who hails from Miami-Dade County.
