Humane Society of the Treasure Coast waives fees to increase adoption of pets
PALM CITY, Fla. — The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast is appealing to the community for assistance in reducing the number of animals that need to be housed in kennels by adopting or fostering an animal.
The capacity of the animal shelter in Palm City has been reached in its entirety. In the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, the shelter took in animals from Lee County, and it is preparing for the arrival of more animals from the hardest-hit parts of southwest Florida later this week.
Fees that are usually required to adopt dogs, cats, and bunnies are no longer being charged until further notice.
