Man arrested for allegedly choking his wife while she was holding their baby
Coral Springs, Florida – According to a police report, a 31-year-old man choked his wife during a fight at their Coral Springs home while she was holding their 1-year-old son in her arms.
After the incident on Jan. 9, police charged David Montelis with domestic battery by strangulation, the report said.
According to his wife, the fight started after Montelis woke up in the middle of the night and put on his clothes to leave. She confronted him, asking whether he was having an affair.
Montelis became enraged, and started choking her with his right hand while she was holding their baby, the report said.
After he released the chokehold, Montelis pushed her into a metal closet door, broke her reading glasses, and poured water on her, she told police, according to the report said. Then he left with their baby, she told the police.
Upon arrival at their home, officers found red marks on his wife’s neck and dents on the closet door.
Police arrested Montelis the next day and took him to Broward County Jail, where he was later released on a $1,000 bond, court records show.
