Mesquite Parks and Recreation announces October festivities

The Mesquite Parks and Recreation Department has organized two family events for October, Dallas Metro News reported.

On Saturday, October 7, the department will conclude its Movies in the Park series with a showing of “The Addams Family 2” at sunset. Activities will begin at 7 p.m., including face painting, basketball, and volleyball. There will also be snack concessions available. This free event will take place at Rorie-Galloway Day Camp, located at 3100 Lawson Road. Attendees are advised to bring blankets and lawn chairs. Food will be available for purchase from Fera’s Grill food truck.

On Saturday, October 21, Paschall Park, located at 1001 New Market Road, will host the annual PumpkinFest from noon to 5 p.m. This event will feature a new hay maze and hay ride. Other activities include costume contests for children and adults, a dog costume competition, and a pumpkin-pie eating contest. The festival will also have a pumpkin patch, carnival games, bounce houses, face painting, and various performers on the community stage. There will be an arts and crafts section and a designated trick-or-treating area. Several food trucks will sell autumn-themed foods.

Both events highlight the City of Mesquite’s dedication to promoting community involvement with activities for all age groups.
