Motorcyclist dead following a DeSoto County crash

DESOTO COUNTY, Fla. — A fatal accident that occurred on US-17 in DeSoto County claimed the life of a 65-year-old man from Arcadia.

According to the reports of the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident took place on Friday when a car driven by a Lakeland man was approaching the junction of NE Daniels Street.

According to the troopers, the motorcyclist was going the same way as the other vehicle but slowed down to make a turn, which is when he was struck by the vehicle.

The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where he passed away on Saturday.

The investigation into the accident is still ongoing.
