Number of deaths linked to Hurricane Ian in Florida increased

Officials from the Florida District Medical Examiners’ Office have confirmed that the deaths of 130 other persons are linked to Ian. As of Thursday, October 20, the fatalities had been reported in 18 counties throughout the state of Florida, including right here in the Tampa Bay region.

The county in which Hurricane Ian made landfall three weeks ago is also the county in which the majority of storm-related fatalities have been reported.

There are databases and services that may be used to report missing individuals and loved ones, locate disaster aid, and keep up with the most recent news about the state’s reaction to storm recovery.
