President Biden will visit hurricane-damaged areas of Southwest Florida
FORT MYERS, Fla. — On Wednesday, President Joe Biden will make the trip to Fort Myers to visit with families who are still working to restore their homes following Hurricane Ian.
Later on Wednesday, the President will arrive at Southwest Florida International Airport, which will reopen today. He will then take a helicopter to look at some of the damaged areas in the state.
We have been informed that Vice President Biden would specifically visit Fisherman’s Wharf, which is one of the areas in the impacted area of Fort Myers Beach.
During the course of his visit, the President will engage in conversation with local residents and business owners. Also, federal, state, and local leaders who are helping to rebuild Southwest Florida will talk to him about their work.
Kaitlan Collins, a CNN reporter who confirmed the news yesterday, said that this is likely to involve a face-to-face meeting with Governor Ron DeSantis.
It is anticipated that FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell and First Lady Jill Biden will accompany Vice President Biden on his visit. There are currently personnel from FEMA on the ground aiding survivors in the application process for recovery funding.
