Student arrested after making threats on social media in reference to East Naples Middle School
NAPLES, Fla. — An investigation led to the arrest of a student at East Naples Middle School on Tuesday after it was reported that a threat of violence had been made against the campus.
According to the statutes of the state of Florida, the student is being charged with a felony of the second degree for making written threats to kill or cause bodily harm, or to conduct a mass shooting or an act of terrorism.
On Monday, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office notified parents and guardians of a “concerning” social media post that made reference to East Naples Middle School.
On Tuesday, there was an increased law enforcement presence at East Naples Middle School to further ensure students’ safety.
