Two suspects arrested in connection with a homicide investigation into a 2019 murder
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — In connection with a homicide investigation that took place in 2019, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Homicide-Cold Case Unit has led to the arrest of two people.
A person was reported shot in the 2800 block of Flanders Street in the early morning hours of November 23, according to the police. A patrol officer went to the call and found the victim.
The JSO discovered an adult victim suffering from what they thought to be gunshot wounds shortly after patrol units arrived at the scene.
According to JSO, the person was transported to a local hospital where they were treated, but they did not survive.
According to the police, there was very little information available in this investigation, and efforts to locate the perpetrator progressed very slowly. However, according to the police, officers continued to investigate the case for close to three years before any charges were made.
Shawn Donzell Bossard, 27, was already being held at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility for crimes unrelated to the alleged murder. He was arrested for the new charge of second-degree murder.
A warrant was also issued for the arrest of Jeffery Lorenzo Herring Jr., age 28, on charges of murder in the second degree. According to JSO, he was later discovered in Leon County, Florida, and the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force took him into custody there.
