Dallas ISD honors principal for transformative leadership in education

Gayle Ferguson Rodgers, a distinguished leader in education, has been making an exceptional impact on the lives of students in the Dallas Independent School District (ISD) for over three decades. Currently serving as the principal of Kathlyn Joy Gilliam Collegiate Academy, an early college high school in the Choice/Magnet division, Rodgers has been nominated as a finalist for the esteemed 2022-2023 Principal of the Year award, according to Dallas Metro News.

With an unwavering dedication to dismantling barriers that prevent underrepresented students from accessing higher education, Rodgers is a passionate advocate for providing college access opportunities to first-generation college students, low-income youth, and students of color. She has been instrumental in leading her school to academic excellence, securing an “A”-rating, and earning the distinguished 2014 and 2021 Exemplary High Performing National Blue Ribbon School recognition.

A proud Dallasite, Rodgers holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Prairie View A&M University and a master’s in Education Leadership from the University of North Texas.
